July 2003 South London parks ride report

Mark Knox writes: On a sunny Saturday in July about 15 of us, including 8 year old Hannah on the back of a tandem, gathered at the cafe in Brockwell Park to set out on an exploration of the wealth of parks in south-east London. We took in 20 parks, most of them new to most of us, from the wildness of One Tree Hill to the neat Victorian charm of the Croydon Road Recreation Ground, and it was amazing how little cycling on roads we had to do to link them all up. One of the great delights was having dazzling views of London from so many different angles - let's hear it for Blythe Hill Fields! And it didn't rain until we were safely back in the Brockwell Park cafe having tea.

Thank you Mark for organising this ride, if there is somewhere in South London or beyond where you’ve always fancied going by bike do get in touch, we will be more than happy to publicise the event, help with route planning and anything else.
