In January 2014 Lambeth Council Leader Lib Peck confirmed that the council was in discussions with Westminster Council about making the parking restrictions on Waterloo Bridge apply 24 hours a day.
At present parking is restricted Northbound but Southbound the restrictions only apply 7am-7pm Monday to Saturday. Outside of these times motorists are able to park on the bridge blocking the cycle lane and making visibility harder for cyclists.
Administration of the bridge is divided between the two councils with Lambeth, up to now, more keen on restricting parking than Westminster. With the advent of the central London grid this looks set to change with Westminster moving towards action.
