New Waterloo Roundabout proposals: better but still not Going Dutch

Following a formal consultation on changes to Waterloo roundabout, in which we and other cyclists offered suggestions on how the roundabout could be made more cycle-friendly, TfL have published new plans.

These new plans include some measures –such as a 20mph speed limit and greater use of advanced stop lines- which will benefit cyclists if they are enforced properly.

However the plans continue with the kerb build outs which we fear will create ‘pinch points’ for cyclists. In no way will the new roundabout layout encourage mass cycling in the area or follow ‘Go Dutch’ principles.

TfL have stated that the work will be completed by early 2013.
