Lambeth ‘linear park’ offers hope for Vauxhall Cross

In January Lambeth’s cabinet looked at proposals for Vauxhall which would effectively see the removal of the current cycle-unfriendly road system.

Coming on the back of development proposals for Nine Elms the plans seek to reintroduce a high street in Vauxhall along Bondway, where the current gyratory and bus station is located, and create a linear park to link the river to the rest of Vauxhall. We welcome these plans as they will effectively result in the removal of the gyratory and make Vauxhall’s roads more people friendly. We hope the principles expounded in the current proposals, that making the streets more cycle and people friendly is good for the whole community, will be applied to the Tulse Hill gyratory system too.
