Join cyclists from all over South London for a fascinating easygoing ride around London with almost no traffic on the roads. The ride starts at 11am and runs until approximately 4pm with a stop for lunch at an Edgware Road cafe.

Vigil, tonight, at King's Cross to ask why are London cyclists twice as likely to suffer fatal crashes as Dutch?
From 6pm on Tuesday 20 December 2011 cyclists, pedestrians, and friends and family of recent crash victims will gather outside King's Cross station for a Xmas vigil to remember loved ones and highlight the unacceptable death toll on the capital’s roads.

Help Lambeth make one way streets two way for cyclists
Lambeth Council are working hard to return one way streets across the borough to two way for cycling.
Two way working for cycling allows us to go legally from A to B avoiding detours due to one way streets etc. There has in some cases been local opposition where for example a street is used extensively for residential car parking. If you are consulted on this in a street near where you live vote for two way working. If there is a one way street near you which you would like to be considered for two way working for cyclists please send details to cycling@lambeth.gov.uk and copy us in so that we can keep records and investigate the progress of two way for cyclists working

A23 in Lambeth to Go Dutch?
At our November meeting we agreed that we would press Transport for London to consider making the A23 in Lambeth and exemplar for a cycle friendly main route as part of LCC’s wider Go Dutch campaign. Our vision is for a road on which cyclists of all ages and abilities can happily travel safely at their own speed.
The A23 stretches the full length of the borough from the riverside near to Waterloo station down through the Oval junction before heading through Brixton and Streatham town centres and onwards to Croydon and beyond.
It is an important thoroughfare with two major shopping areas, the town hall and two libraries situated along the road. It is also a residential road with housing located along almost its entire length in Lambeth.
We hope to be able to work with TfL and Lambeth Council to see how the going Dutch principles can be applied to this road to make it more people friendly. Come to our January meeting where we will be exploring what would be required for the A23 to Go Dutch.

New secondhand bike stall at Lower Marsh, SE1
A new secondhand bike stall has opened on Lower Marsh, near Waterloo Station in Lambeth SE1. The stall sells a selection of used bikes and cycling accesories.
Other options for secondhand bikes in Lambeth and nearby include the London Bicycle Tour company in Gabriels Wharf, SE1 and Re-Cycling in Elephant Road, SE1.
Other bike shops in the borough might have the occasional secondhand bike too. See also LCC's advice on buying a secondhand bike.
